Revealing a Richmond wedding photographer’s authentic brand.

My Role:

  • Research: Interviews | Competitive Analysis | Data Analysis

  • Presentation: Deck Design | Asset Collection

Summary

The Completeness Campaign Competition is held every semester at VCU. Students are teamed up to compete for the winning pitch. The client was Awesomesauce Photography, a Richmond-based wedding photographer looking to up her prices and reach more potential clients.

The Ask

Create a campaign that will help get Awesomesauce Photography the name recognition it deserves in order to gain more clientele.

Challenge

Richmond is a saturated market, it is difficult for photographers to stand out even if they are industry veterans.

Solution

Show Awesomesauce’s true colors by outwardly putting the photographer’s authentic self as the spotlight.

Target

Inspired by the ever so unique, Queen Victoria, who was the first to wear white to her wedding, our target are women who challenge the modern day traditions of weddings.

Situation

Wedding’s are now “Instagramable moments” and most to-be-wed couples are looking for ways to make their weddings picture-worthy.

Tension

The quality of work Awesomesauce delivers is phenomenal, but the brand does not speak for the quality of the photos the company produces. Aesthetics are everything.

Brand Truth

Richmond is crawling with incredibly talented photographer’s, however, not everyone has the bright and bold personality like Awesomesauce. How can we get potential client’s to see the personal touch that goes into every shoot before they sign?

Opportunity

Show the value of adding a personal touch to Awesomesauce’s online presence and promotional materials.

Insight

Love is always relevant.

Strategy

Everybody has a love story.

Final Summary

Lessons Learned:

  • Getting to know and understand the client is as important as the final deliverable, it can make or break the pitch.

  • The reward is usually greater than a risk so don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.

  • Team work is about compromise.
