Defining tools and resources for college professors in Richmond.


Summary

VCU CreateAthon is a 24-hour marketing and advertising event where students participate in teams of four or five to solve the problems of Richmond’s local nonprofits. Learnrva is an online platform created by the VCU Office of Community Engagement, its purpose is to serve as a tool for college professors in Richmond to provide proper history and educational materials about the city’s history.


The Ask

Elevate LearnRVA so that more faculty members in Richmond can use the website as an both an online resource and a way to share curriculum.

Challenge

LearnRVA does not have a clear target audience or messaging.

Solution

Position LearnRVA as a faculty member’s ally, it is both a way for faculty to share their work and learn how to better engage with the community.


Situation

Faculty members normally look within their own departments for curriculum inspiration.

Tension

Faculty members do not search outside their own school or even in their city for ways to teach while engaging with the community.

Brand Truth

LearnRVA serves as a motivator to get colleges in Richmond involved in the community.

Opportunity

Create a user-friendly online resource for teachers to allow them to learn about how they can engage in the community.
